Unique leather binding with Hand painted decoration, The Herbarium

This one of a kind binding is dedicated to the world of plants. Life lately has brought me in close contact with nature and universe of herbs and flowers has been fascinating me. I wanted this book to resemble a collection of old plant specimens from which bits and pieces were captured and enclosed into this cabinet like book cover. The painting of the plants was done by hand in great detail inside each of the panels, then aged with patina to appear worn by time.  

The journal is large size, measuring 10.2 x 7.3 inches (26 x 18.5 cm). It is filled with Fabriano rusticus artist paper and has 114 pages (228 sides). The paper is warm white, slightly textured, hand torn and has 200 g/m² (for comparison, photocopy paper has 90 g/m²). It is acid free perfect for writing and sketching in any media, even watercolor.

The end pages are made of cotton green paper with aged gold screen printed patterns.
