This journal is bound in natural leather, hand tooled and free hand painted in great detail. The theme of the binding is celestial alchemy, focusing on human's ascension through life, in the ultimate search for enlightlment and the mystical quest for knowledge.
The cover features an original composition inspired by medieval cosmology and alchemical symbolism. The design unfolds across the entire cover like an illuminated manuscript, revealing a vision of the universe structured in concentric celestial spheres, based on the illustation of the geocentric (Earth-centered) model of the universe from Oronce Fine's 1549 book La Sphère du Monde.
The text of the outer ring reads "Aperitur Velum Caeli et Ostenditur Ordo Universi" - the veil of heaven is opened and the order of the universe is revealed.
At the center lies the Earth, surrounded by the classical elements—Fire, Air, Water, and Earth—encircled by the ancient planetary spheres: the Moon, Mercury, Venus, the Sun, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. Above them rises the firmament and the ordered harmony of the cosmos, expressed through the Latin phrase “Visio Ordinis Mundi” — The Vision of the Order of the World.
The painting is made with leather paints and sealed so that it does not wear off during time. Patina was applied to the entire book with transparent glazes so make it resemble an old manuscript.
The book measures 10.2 x 7.3 inches (26 x 18.5 cm). It has 114 pages (228 sides) of Favini Laguna artist paper. The paper has a parchment finish, with a smooth tooth, hand torn and has 180 g/m². It is acid free, perfect for writing and sketching in any media, even watercolor.
The endpages are made of hand marbled paper. The headbands were hand sewn in red silk thread and gold metallic thread.
