Named after the North Star, Polaris is a journal of guidance and hope. For centuries, this beautiful star stood still in the turning sky, a fixed light by which travelers and wanderers found their way home. It is a star that brings direction. It may not be the brightest, but it is the most faithful. The journal carries this meaning, a place to return to when the path feels uncertain or difficult, where hope remains the direction to follow and trust even in the darkness.
The binding is made in leather that I hand dyed myself with a marbled pattern. It has various tones and hues of turquoise blue to black and it's design is simple yet fascinating with its rich texture. The tooling of the constellations is done with gold foil and so the sparkles of gold on the cover.
It measures 7.3x10.2 inches (18.5x26 cm). It has 138 pages (276 sides) of Favini Laguna artist paper with parchment finish. This paper is acid free, hand-torn, has 180 gsm and will work for writing and sketching in any media, even watercolor.
The endpapers are made of hand marbled paper with white, blue, orange, and purple veins. The headbands are hand sewn from blue and gold thread and make a beautiful decoration at the head and tale of the book.
This book is an art object. I hope you will love it once you’ll meet it.
