This lockable leather journal is made of natural thick leather, dyed and antiqued by hand in brown tones. It was designed to resemble a medieval tome. The book closes with a functional lock and key to keep your writings safe. The metal brads placed in the corners and the lock have a patina to fit the overall antique look of this book. The brads will allow it to lay flat when opened but the surface of the covers will never enter in contact with the table and thus will protect the decoration from scratching. The decoration is done by tooling with white foil, each element at a time .
The book measures 10.2 x 7.3 inches (26 x 18.5 cm). It has 124 pages (248 sides) of Favini Laguna artist paper with parchment finish. This paper is acid free, hand-torn, has 180 gsm and will work for writing and sketching in any media, even watercolor.
The headbands are sewn from beige and brown waxed cotton thread. The endpapers are hand marbled in brown and black tones.
