This unique fine leather binding was designed to capture the romance, elegance, and artistic spirit of the late Regency era in which the novel's story unfolds. It is bound in vegetable tanned, aniline dyed Harmatan ox blood red fine leather and hand tooled and painted with acrylic leather paints. The design features the facing side portraits of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy framed by swirling botanical vines, soft rose blossoms, and intricate sage green accents. The spine has with traditional raised bands and forest-green leather labels with the title and the author. The book pages were hand painted in great detail with a floral pattern inspired by the wall papers from the same era, designed to harmonize with the cover artwork.
To preserve and display this art piece, I made a custom slipcase covered in green leather adorned with a winding red rose stem on both front and back sides. The slipcase design echoes the vine motif on the binding, blending Regency period fashion with timeless Art Nouveau artistry to create a unique centerpiece for any library or a true Jane Austen lover.
The endpages are made of hand marbled paper. The endbands are hand sewn from gold and green silk threads.
