This one of a kind journal is bound in bold vermillion color leather, vegetable tanned goatskin. I chose to decorate it in art nouveau style, with luxurious gold tooling, intricate botanical motifs and a flowing silhouette of a goddess dancing surrounded by flowers. Every single line and dot of this cover were tooled entirely by hand, in a very meditative process. I used strong contrasts but a limited chromatic palette to let the detailed gilding shine through and give it the feel of an antique treasure—perfect for writing, sketching, or simply be inspired by the tactile feel of this cover.
The blank book measures 10.2 x 7.5 inches (26 x 19 cm). It has 114 pages (228 sides) of artist quality paper with parchment finish. This is Favini Laguna paper, hand torn, (180g/m²) and will work for both writing and sketching in any media, including watercolor.
The end pages are made of hand marbled paper, in tones of blue with orange, green and grey veins. The headbands were hand sewn with gold, light orange and dark green blue color threads.
You can use this binding as a daily journal, a magic book for a goddess or a fairy. It would be the perfect addition to any library shelf that wants a bit of sparking color.
