This journal is hand bound in white leather and decorated by tooling in detail with gold and silver foil to resemble a shinny treasure. The front and back cover feature similar motifs with variations of buds, flowers and leaves, and are surrounded by a decorative frame in free hand tooling. A soft patina was applied around the interior edges of the border to give it a bolder look.
The book measures a little over 6x8 inches (16x21 cm). It has 150 pages (300 sides) of Favini Shiro Alga paper, an ecological paper produced from algae in Venice Lagoon. The seaweed particles are visible on the surface to give a unique natural look and its ivory color makes it fit perfectly the overall old feel of this book. The paper is hand torn, has 120gsm, and it will hold well ink, dip pens, gel and ball pens, markers and any dry media.
The headbands were hand sewn from black and silver metallic thread. The end papers are marbled paper in tones of grey, white and black.
