Miniature Journals

There's something so fascinating in making teeny tiny books and journals, for me the smaller the better, of course! Whenever I need to give my mind a break and keep my hands busy I immerse into the production of a batch of these little beauties. I love to use vintage bits of leather that I have found at the flea markets and gathered along the years. The smallest I ever made? Earrings and necklace size, definitely. Check out my collection below. These I made over the years and now are all sold, however from time to time something like this...

Journals with lock and key - Part 1: Best sellers

I have been making journals with lock and key, or lockable diaries as I like to refer to them, since more than ten years. How to take care of your leather journal

How do you properly care for your leather journal or binding? White leather journals

One of my favorite leathers to work with is white goatskin. I absolutely love the immaculate surface of a white hide and the potential it has for me to create something with it. I always go for soft contrasts such as white - silver or white - gold with gray or brown patina. It is also one of the hardest leathers to work with, mistakes are not allowed. So here are some of my favorite white leather bindings I made over the years. Which one is your favourite? My own wedding guestbook A journal bound in white leather with brass...

"The Mystery Books" Collection

I have just finished these two bindings, they are much the same model but bound in different leather colors. I really like the design of the covers and tooling it each little element at a time is a very contemplative process for me, somehow like meditation. I normally listen to music or audiobooks while I work but when I tool these covers I work in silence and get lost in thoughts. I'm grateful to bookbinding for sometimes being a very kind and permissive craft. I plan to make these in more colors. Lately I have been working a lot with...
